Where I've been as of late...

Where I've been is essentially a deep dark pit of despair that even the most tantalizing piece of cycling history, rarity or sparkingly gooey NOS-ness could pull me out of. For a while I was feeling as thought the weight of the world (my slice of it anyways) was a misshapen boulder hurtling down a hill with no way for me to predict avoiding it...

For those of you who don't follow my tumblr blog, I've got some major life changes going on right now. I feel as though for once in my life I need explore them and not worry so much about taking the safe route...

My future plans are:

Pay off whatever bills STAT.

Take Kiochi Yamaguchi's frame building course in Colorado.

Quit my fucking shite job by next spring.

Go to Croatia for two or three months to live and maybe do a little freelance work. Then help my parents harvest, clean, survey and mark off the 40 or so acres of farmland and ocean front property we own on our island...

Come back to NYC/Jerz and work a bunch of different freelance jobs, blog full time and concentrate on photography, bike building and possibly even high end furniture design/fabrication...

My main goal is to be artistically productive and not be hindered by working a set schedule at some windowless 40% grey office doing something I've come to despise...

Though something tells me that most of you don't really give two shits about all that and would just prefer I cut through all the mental masterbative naked in the woods drum beating rah-rah bull shit and just get on to all the glorious fucking bike porn already.. Lousy cunts...

Anyways, I've allotted this Sunday night/Monday morning to making up for lost time. It is now 6:44pm. Between all the photos I still need to take, process and upload, not to mention the combination of Vicodin and Weed smoke I intent to ingest.. it's going to be a while...

Okay, it is now 11:16 am Monday morning and I'm at work. I essentially got fuck all done last night. Fucking weed. NO MORE!.. Whatever though, I might as well get this sort of shit done while I'm being paid by the hour. Yep, nothing like wasting valuable company time, hehe...

Here goes:

A couple of weeks ago my friend Anna invited me to scope out a play. It was cool. It was the last performance of Swimming cities of Switchback Sea. Now while I REALLY would've loved to have seen the performance done when they were up in Nyack, I'm glad I didn't because I wouldn't have laid my eyes on these two fucking monstrosities:

I mean.. I don't even know where to begin, where to end, or anything in between. So I'm just not going to bother. All I know is if I owned one, I would ride it around butt naked while angrily waving a serpent entwined scepter B-L-A-S-T-I-N-G Digable Planets 'Nickel Bag of Funk'

Next up is this Bitchin' bike computer I got on ebay:

I'm sorry but this is def one of those things that falls into the category of MUST HAVE...

I mean, check out the side by side!!

Another couple of ebay items would be these newly re-chromed, straight from Australia Major Taylor Adustable stem and Cinelli track bars. Neither of them are perfect but the two including shipping costs were $140.59

sssssSUCKERS!

Then, the weekend before last I was running some errands when a FUCKing B-17 bomber flew over me. Being the kinda sorta but not really WWII buff, I decided to go scope it out since I'd heard there was going to be an air show in my area.

Wicked seeing one in person...

What bearing does this have with cycling? None. But I did get this KICK ASS dog tag made for me:

Best $5 bucks I've spent in a long time.. douche...

Then, since EVERY fucking pair of jeans I own have their crotches blown out, I decided to buy a few new pairs from Skate Park of Tampa. I couldn't believe all the promo shit that came in the box:

When I used order shit back in the day you'd be lucky if there were a few stickers in there. Much less a mag, pins AND a copy of the new 411 video. For some reason I've actually gone to the trouble of putting together a little highlight clip for yer asses:

Here's a couple 'seen on the street' bikes I thought were pretty awesome:

And lastly, This past Saturday I volunteered over at Time's Up! table at the Park Ave Armory 'Democracy in America' Show. It was pretty cool. Met some awesome people. Hung out, made some zines. Ate some cupcakes...

Anyways, it is 3:12pm and I'm finally finishing this up. I will DEF do my best to keep things moving at a steady pace from now on.. fuckin' bitches...

UPDATE: Google map sequence for those who were asking:

Olli's Bilenky inspired track bike COMPLETED!

Some of you may recall Olli's Bilenky tribute, hetchins tribute (?) track bike from a little while back. The one that showed up on the forums, weirded me out, and then I later realized the dude was fuckin' awesome. Well, I just spied these photos of it on Flickr and couldn't resist posting em up:

Rat Pack Hustle II: MEET TWO!!

Fortunately I remembered to bring the proper equipment to last night's meet. Which means slightly better photos. HOWEVER.. I still think I can do better. I just need to get my filthy mitts on a couple of quantum batteries and radio slaves. That and I need to compensate for the color distortion since the pixels tend to fall apart at higher ISO ratings. Oh and set my camera to rear curtain sync. Though I may need to buy a Canon 580 EX II flash first... Yooouu really don't care about all that do you..? Fiiiinnnne.. on with the semi decent snaps:

I mean, check out that stretch we're sprinting down- Fucking PERFECT!

More snaps here...

As with last week, last night was super fun. I even brought the gooch out since I'd been wanting to race on it since I got it. Despite it's radness and the unbelievable amount of attention it got, my times were actually a little bit worse. Which goes to show it def isn't always about the equipment. I think that's partially because I went out there cold with no real warm up. Next week I need to get there earlier to get the creek out mah bones...

How is it that a front and rear derailleur are worth $1400???

I mean, I get that they're rare and stuff but still:

Then again, when people are STUPID enough to spend $870 on a Pista concept why not?

OT: September 11th rememberance and rediculousness...

So I'm sure a lot of you have been seeing September 11th rememberances etc.. here there and EVERYFUCKINGWHERE. Anyways, I just figured I'd do something different. Lord knows I don't really have much to say about it personally aside from the fact that my dumbass was fast asleep at the time. So Instead of mourning all the poor bastards who died that day and how tragic it was and all that USA Flag waving RA RA RA bullshit.. Let's remember some of the people who profited and plundered off of 9/11 instead. Because, mutha fuckas who know a good opportunity when they see one.. are mutha fuckas tha GET PAID!

The best example of this is everyone's favorite Mayor: Rudy Guliani - and yes, that really is him...

BTW, when I say everyone, I mean everyone who doesn't actually live in or around New York City...

The Village Voice

The Washington Post

Guliani get's exposed as a fraud by firefighters

Yeah.. FUCKinnnng scumbag...

Wall Street:

Stock brokers and investors

And by far one of my favorite videos about the whole damn thing...

I know it's long and attention spans can be short at times but just watch the ENTIRE video...

Please keep in mind I'm not some ridiculous super liberal conspiracy nut. But you have to admit, that shit is crazy!

And to those of you who have truly suffered or lost family and or friends.. My sincerest condolences...

Let's not forget about what's going on OUTSIDE of this country.. You know, like that big abortion that's been going on in the middle east for the last 7 fucking years now...

Rat Pack Hustle photos and video!

Around this time last year I was working late nights over at RS which prevented me from attending the first Rat Pack Hustle meet. However, now that I'm working a slightly lesser late shift at this new sucky job, I'm able to attend this years meets...

I rolled over there after work excited to finally take part in a race that didn't involved crossing intersections or 180 degree turns around gravel ridden columns...

The space picked for this event couldn't be better. A super long stretch of green way along the Hudson flanked by a fences on both sides. Not to mention suuuuper nice smooth pavement...

The photos and video I took are pretty meh overall. I totally spaced on packing my second flash's slave unit and extra batteries. It's pretty dark out there too. Anyways, enough with the BS excuses, here's what I gots:

and a little sequence of the deciding race:

Like I said, pretty meh. Same with the video too:

I mean, you get the idea but it kinda looks like shizah...

More crappy photos here...

As you can see the racing was SUUUUPER fun and Dan Bones did a great job holding this event! I'm DEF looking forward to the next one this Monday. If you're interested in checking this event out be sure to scope out the Rat Pack Hustle Blog for updates and results from the previous meets...

My shop REALLY needs to not look like this much longer...

So I'm having a little BBQ bike building swap meet style party this Sunday Sept. 14th to help get rid of a lot of it...

While there are a few really nice frames and parts I would say most of it is better for everyday use and abuse. BUT.. If you're looking to build up a roadie or polo bike super cheap for yourself or a friend to beat on/lock up, this is your chance...

I'll be selling most everything for wicked cheap and am def down for some trades if you've got something I'm interested in. I'll probs even give a lot away!

Proceeds will go towards a couple few cases of beer, wine, burgers for the meat-a-tarians, soy products and whatever veggies I don't already have growing in my backyard. Though if no veggie people are coming WE WILL ROAST AN ENTIRE COW, EAT MEAT RIGHT OFF THE BONE AND WASH IT DOWN WITH LAMB'S BLOOOOOOD :metal:

I live in lovely Cliffside Park NJ. A quick jaunt from the George Washington Bridge if you want to ride. If you don't, I can pick a few people up from the PATH station in Hoboken...

There's an elementary school playground directly across the street from my house where you can engage in polo, frame toss, foot down and whatever the fuck else. Just don't fall cause the pavement kinda sucks...

As far as getting stuff home if you're riding and don't feel like slinging a frame over your shoulder, I can toss it all in my car and bring it into the city afterwards or bring it to my office where you can pick it up another day. Whatever...

Also, for those of you with a similar problem, feel free to bring your own swag to trade and sell so we can have a true swap meet. As opposed to me just getting rid of my own shit. Obviously I don't want people showing up with two tons of stuff (unless it's stellar) cause my place just ain't that big...

PLEASE NOTE: I obviously am not looking to have a rager or 50 weird/schetchy/dirty people hanging out at my place. If you're interested in coming, send me an email with your blog/flickr/myspace/etc.. so I can see what you're all about. If I deem you to be worthy of my company (what an asshole!) I'll send you directions/address info...

Most importantly, let's keep this shit classy and fun people! Be sure to bring some fancy pants bikes for everyone to drool over if ya got em' too!

Sorry, more skateboarding.. and bitching...

That video is indeed gnarly but there's something about the whole grandeur aspect of skateboard videos like it I'm not really down with. Maybe because I remember what it was like when skateboarding was dead in the early 90's (unless you lived in Cali) and every skate video you got your filthy mitts on was a 3rd gen VHS copy of a copy. It was like watching the spice channel through the static...

WHAT'S ALL THIS THEN??????????

ooooooh man, I may have been forced to sit around my place ALL. FUCKING. DAY. waiting for this mofo to show up, but as I ripped it open and set my eyes upon it for the first time.. I knew it was well worth the wait...

What.. You think you get to see more than that? Please.. You'll have to wait for the full build...

Suffice it to say, it's going to stir up a lot of emotion in people. In other words, I'm really hoping it pisses a lot of people off- mwuhahaha!
