KILLER Custom built wooden fenders!
Bryan from Bicycle Revolutions just emailed me a link to Fast Boy Fenders of NYC. He mentioned them to me when I was at his shop the other day. I checked out the site and they look fucking sweet! I have yet to see them in person or use one but I'm SUPER tempted to get one of the 'Stubby' models in the near future. Check them out when you get a chance...

Welcome fellow nerdy cycling compatriots!
I appreciate all of you for taking the time to scope out my new blog. Some of you may know my exploits from Flickr, Myspace, and eBay. After much contemplation I've decided to start a straight up meat and potatoes cycling blog for the all the nerdy bike part/ebay fiends out there. I mean who needs socializing and trendy all over print hoodies when you could be on the prowl for vintage cinelli bling?? Anyways, with any luck you'll get a kick out of it and forward it around to all your buddies...
Okay, having said that, here's just a little taste of what all you nerdy fuckers can look forward to here:
Shit I see on the web:

I know, I hate MTV too but they had the best quality video I could find...
In the near future I plan on absorbing my old Myspace blog of personal bike projects and adding a couple of new ones...
I'd also like the chance to review new and vintage items out there and anything else that I can get my filthy mitts on...
You should of course feel free to email me with any and all suggestions and links to anything you find striking.. So get to it already fuck face!

Hmmm, Philly trip? Sure, why the fuck not?!
The day after I began working on this blog I abruptly decided to hit Philly up. So I called into the office, told them I had better shit to do today and and off I went. I'd been needing to drop off my Mercian frame for a repaint and I figured I could take some pics at the shops I frequent while I was in town. I kinda got a late start to the day so I didn't get to spend as much time as I would've liked at each of them. I figured there would be a bit of a learning curve with blog specific entries so please bear with me ass face. I def plan to do more extensive entries in the future. If you have any suggestions please let me know. Anyways, here goes- enjoy sucka!

Bilenky Cycle Works!
Upon first glance it may not look like much but you know what they say:
Don't judge a book by it's cover...
or in this case:
Don't judge a fucking kick ass bike builder by the outside of his workshop and the crunk ass hood that surrounds it...
The first time I visited Bilenky Cycle works was about 3 years ago. It was in the middle of January with a little snow on the ground and numerous bike trails leading to the front door. If only my shriveled nads knew what was in store for me once I walked through the door that day...

Awesome sculpture...
Another sculpture...
Yet another nice touch...
My Mercian Vincitore Track frame I'm having repainted. It's going to stay red but those FUCKing Lavender panels are killing me. That and the red is a bit tired looking. I'm having it redone the same way with a slight snappier red and better matching custard white panels...
Fucking awesome ANVIL frame jig. I'd kill for one of these. That and the skilled expertise it requires to put it to good use...
mmmm, lathe...
HEY, These are the forks off my gooch! My Yamaguchi frame had a little crack in the seatpost due to the awesome looking, yet shitily supported Corima Blade seatpost I originally had mounted in it. I had them completely replace the seatpost tube with some stronger steel and now I'm just waiting on a few replacement decals for repaint...
Awesome wooden toolbox...
Bilenky's Carl Marin working on some frameage...
The official Bilenky Cargo bike they use for hitting the post office etc...
An awesome vintage gold anodized ALAN frame Steve owns...
Another shot of the ALAN...
Some Viewpoint frames...
Some pieces of prebuilt Viewpoint frames (I think?)...
Viewpoint frame currently being built...
mmmm, tubing...
mmmm, notcher...
Okay, so the story behind this SWEET Hetchins frame is SO FUCKED UP it's going to make you weep. That or point and laugh (fuckers). Anyways, from what Steve tells me, the owner of this frame took the bike on a trip and had it mounted roof rack style. Everything was fine and dandy until he got home and accidentally went to park his car in the garage with the bike still mounted on the roof rack.............. If it had been me I would most likely have shit myself once I heard the thud against the wall while parking. What a fucking BUMMER man! Apparently it's so beyond fucked that repairing it may not be worth the trouble. Bilenky's own Simon Firth pictured here frustrated look and all...
Tasty new Bilenky S+S coupled frame...
Headtube...
Close up of S+S coupler...
Close up of Surly dropout...
Steve pulled out some cool vintage parts for me to scope out...
How RAD are these old Gipiemme pedals???
Another view...
This Bilenky 753 Reynolds road frame was fucking SICK! I wanted to take it down but everyone seemed busy at the time...
RRRRRAD custom built quill stem...
Bilenky's Bob Kamzelski took his bike down for me to show off some milling skills on his own personal Bilenky...
Another tasty custom stem...
Steve in the nerve center...
mmmm, files...
A gaggle of custom forks...
Bilenky's John Weller chopping a recumbent frame to be outfitted with S+S coupler...
Close up of the smallest couplers S+S makes...
Some of the fellas scoping out one of my latest acquisitions. A set of 1960's Hetchins lugs, full rear triangle and fork...
Close up of lugs...
The whole package. As you can see I'm faced with a mighty conundrum.. what should it be? Road or Track?...
If you've never heard of Bilenky Cycle Works definitely check out their site and if you live anywhere near Philly, make it a point to stop by. You won't regret it...

Philly Trip - Via Bicycle!
I don't really know where to start with describing Via Bicycle other than: 'It's a total trip maaann' As stupid as that sounds anybody who's been will know exactly what I'm talking about. If anything it's more like a trip through time. There is MIND BLOWING amount of cycling history contained within it's walls. WAY more than I've seen anywhere else combine. I've been to a lot of really good shops, but this one definitely takes the cake for their HUGE stock of vintage and used gear...
The shop is unmissable due to the hundred or so used bikes that are put out daily...
I had my eye on this killer Schwinn tandem single speeder...
Awesome old school cargo bike...
This thing was reeeedonkulous! Curtis (the proprietor) had recently had this Penny Farthing rennovated to like new condition. It was so sweet! I'd KILL for one of these...
Curtis also told me that this second Bone shaker was his 'beater'. "You know, something I can ride around when I need to go to the bank or something"...
So many bikes!
There's a couple of Sheriff Star hubs mixed in there somewhere...
Awesome drawers...
Need some wheels?
This is got to be the only bike shop with library style ladders in it...
Can you say forks?
Bars maybe?
My favorite part about this shop is that there is just so much shit EVERYWHERE. It seems like no matter where you stand you're in somebody's way or knocking something over. I FUCKING LOVE IT!!!
Vintage Hozan wheel building tool...
The upstairs in VB is for lack of a better word: GNARLY. Unfortunately it was too crowded with bikes up there for me to scope out this time. Hopefully next time there'll be enough room for me to squeeze around and photograph in...
A really neat super old Swiss Army bike...
Joel led me towards the back of the shop to show me a few other really cool bikes...
still following...
Whoooooa, a newly renovated Jack Taylor roadie. Fucking Sweet!!!
Another side room...
I quite literally could spend weeks going through this place with a fine tooth comb photographing and drooling at all the goodies they have here. I'll def have to do another entry about it in the future. Until then, scope them out on the web...
