For those of you locals and visitors in Richmond this weekend, be on the look out for Mike's Custom Folder! It's a light blue version so be sure to keep that in mind..
The very LAST anyone should have to worry about at a big ass bike show is their bike being stolen- SO LAME!!!
Sorry to hear it Mike! Hope it turns up somewhere soon!!
..because my dumbass has been getting ready for MFin' NAHBS! Last Thursday I came up with an awesome idea for a new freak bike and by tonight, it'll be DONE. I'm SO wicked stoked on it that it's not even funny! Rides so nice!! More on that later tho. Hopefully I'll have enough time to take some nice photos of it before I head down. This way all ya'll will know what to look for..
There's a lot of races and parties going on all weekend so I'll do my best to cover what I can. You can bet that I'll be clearing out all my memory cards in anticipation! Here's a few things I'm going to try and check out:
Feel free to send me any other links of happenings going on peripheral to these!
User ChrisJ SLAYED the bike porn thread on the Local NYC fixed board today with like a million images so here's a few things I thought would be worth sharing:
If only NYC wasn't so chock full o stuck up fashion conscious prissy hipster bitches who's main priorities are being way cool, wicked trendy and forking out WAY too much money to live in shoebox sized apartments. Then maybe we could have a better freak bike culture here. And yes, I know there was Bike Kill for a while but I'm not talking about a once a year thing..
The main reason it bums me out that there isn't more out there on the subject of, along with blogs talking about and covering freak bike events, is that it's something just about anyone can do. I mean yeah, you need some tools and a little know how but having the internet means you can easily DIY the whole thing on your own regardless of experience. Tools can be borrowed or bought relatively cheaply from handy man relatives, craigslist, Nashbar and Home Depot. Bikes and parts can be found and bought wicked cheap as well. Also, and this is the main kicker, not all of us out there can afford to collect and hoard crazy ass expensive rare bike parts etc such as assholes like myself. Freak bike building gives the average enthusiast an outlet to enjoy another facet of cycling while creating something unique with their own hands and best of all- CHEAP and FUCKEN FUN!!!
So here's the to all the people out there tinkering around and building weird ass bikes for the hell of it and having an awesome time all the while- KEEP IT UP!
..and send me some links while you're at it fuckface!
