So I'm lounging in my bed last night when all of a sudden I hear two massive
explosions and my windows vibrating. I look out the window and from
behind the houses I can see that the sky is bright orange and smoke is
bellowing like a mother fucker. I immediately run outside and down the
street two blocks away where I see this big housing complex construction site is going up
in flames:
Here's the a few videos I shot as well:
It was pretty fucking gnarly. SUPER bummed that I broke my camera the
other week and it's still at the repair shop. All I got is lame ass iPhone
footage. Having said that, ABC, NBC, CBS, WPIX, NJ12 and somebody else all
requested video and photos. So if you were watching the news last night you might have seen it. If not, here's some screen grabs:
..and my personal fav:
When I saw that I immediately belting out the screechiest falsetto:
\m/ FIRE AND AAAHHHHIIIIICCCEEE!!! \m/
I mean, as if the flames weren't amazing enough, seeing my name broadcast across all the major networks shrouded by fire WAS THE RADDEST MOTHER FUCKING THING EVER!!!
So yeah, I had a pretty great narcissisticly indulgent night, lol..
Here's the CBS and ABC's BRUTAL coverage on the story and thankfully no one was injured..
In bike related news, I started working on a new mini tall as it's about fucking time already. Main thing I needed to help kick the project off is a set of custom dropouts. I didn't have any appropriately sized scrap metal to make custom drop
outs with so I went to Harbor Freight and bought this standard
receiver tube for a trailer hitch:
Started with one of my typically crappy loose drawings and went for it:
1: Initial outline, 2: 1st rough
cut, 3: Second piece cut out and welded to the first, 4: About 2/3rds of
the milling and hand filing done..
I actually got a bunch more done yesterday, including the middle cut out section, but when I was waiting for it to cool down enough to the touch is when the building down the street exploded and ended up spending the rest night emailing back and forth with all the news channels. I'll have em finished and ready for mock up next time I'm in the shop..
More soon!
