A new production adustable stem that's AFFORDABLE?!! Really??!!!

Most of you know that I have a HUGE fetish for adjustable stems. Many a time have I wondered when someone would catch on and start producing new and cheaper ones for all to enjoy. I noticed over on the prollmeisters blog that Livery Design Gruppe came out with one of their own:

On a bike:

From Livery:

New fillet brazed stems in stock. We hand braze these stems then polish and chrome plate them. We then CNC a chunk of aluminum that holds the bars in place.

-Quill Length is Adjustable from 0-120MM

-Will accommodate bars from 25.4-26.0mm

$119.99 per set. Shown on customer’s bike with out pursuit bars (400mm width, heat treated aluminum bars).

To me they most closely resemble a mix of a Schwinn Paramount Adjustable stem and Phillipe Adjustable stem..

Here's some other examples in order: Major Taylor, Philippe, Pivo, 3ttt, Cinelli and Nitto

While I'll most likely stick with my vintage stems, I will say that I totally dig what they've got going on there. Esp the opposing end double allen key bolt design on the stem clamp! That little innovation would def take the fun out of wondering if you'd tightened down the stem clamp enough or not, hehe..

The one thing I'd like to see them do differently, and this is totally nit picking, is to make the bar/stem clamp block out of steel instead of aluminum. Just so it could be ooey gooey chomey goodness all over instead of the duller aluminum finish. I suppose to you could polish the aluminum but it just wouldn't compare to the chrome finish..

So if you want to avoid the hefty price tag of a vintage adjustable stem and have a brand spanking new one that also kicks ass, this is DEF it!

Gorgeous Vanilla Roadie on ebay in NEW condition!

If you're looking for a very affordable Roadie frame..

..for all around use and abuse or have just been thinking about trying out something different OR working on a first build, I highly recommend getting this Nashbar Roadie frame:

I know, I know.. Freaking Nashbar.. BUT.. I've personally ridden one of these frames for a good year and a half before getting into fixed and passing it on to a friend who rode the living shit out of it. Also built one up for another friend and she dug it too! We always laughed about how awesome the ride was despite being a shit kicker frame from Nashbar..

The other great thing is that you can lock it up, crash the hell out of it and not only will it take the abuse, but you won't care about it either- I mean, it's a Nashbar frame after all!

For $89 bucks + approx $30 for shipping it's hard to beat! All you need is a whatever fork or the Nashbar one I ended up getting which was also super nice. The key thing is when they have both those items marked down and they drop one of their 10-20% off sales. Shit ends up being SO CHEAP..

If I didn't already have like 10 frames lying around I could build up I'd totally get another one just for the hell of it. My knee has been fucking with me after a couple of spills on the board and when I fell right before kicking the shit out of that chinese food that one time. I def need to build something non-fixed soon to take it easy for the next month or so..

1983 Cinelli Supercorsa Roadie FOR SALE!

A buddy of mine (also handsomely named Alan) is selling his 1983 Cinelli Supercorsa. Check it:

Here are all the deets from him so be sure to contact him directly at:

taglab@ymail.com

I bought this last year, built a nice set of wheels for it, admired it in my living room after realizing it doesn't quite fit me - so now its gotta go.

1983 Cinelli Supercorsa with mostly Super Record Group in seat tube 57 C-T, 56 C-C and 55.5 C-C top tube. the frame has been repainted pearl white, its a nice paint job albeit a little on the thick side. the decals have mostly been removed as they were ink-jet printed on vinyl - didn't look so great, i'm in search of more original ones.

I can offer up the complete build for $1100 (minus pedals/saddle - I can probably include a Turbo if you need something) or
frame/fork for $500
SR group (minus wheelset) for $400
wheelset for $250
I don't really want to part out bits and pieces of the group.

Super Record 170mm non-fluted crankset 53/42 (no dustcaps)
unknown titanium spindle bottom bracket
Super Record 36h high flange hubs laced 4x to MA40 clinchers with Sante freewheel (rims were new when laced up, were ridden on for a couple of months so break wear is minimal)
Super Record fluted seatpost with four of the flutes filled in with red/green enamel
Corsa Record headset
Cinelli 1e stem with Cinelli logo laser etched on left side (not quite deep enough to be called pantographed)
Cinelli 64-42 giro d'italia bars with GOLD bar tape
Super Record calipers
Super Record brake levers with non-campy hoods with RED/GREEN cabling
Super Record shifter levers
Super Record front and rear derailluers (it does have a chain now)

I also have some Cinelli 62-44 LA84 pursuit bars, NOS from Sashae but they are too wide for me. Ideally i'd like to trade them for the same or similar bars in 38 or 40 (such as mavic, nitto, or cinelli) OR $45

I have 3 Sugino Mighty Comp 151 bcd track rings. they are in used condition but the tooth look good on all of them. the 47 has been polished, $15 each.

45t 1/8"
47t 3/32"
50t 3/32"

You better not being looking at this via an iPhone app!

Cause if you are I'm totally laughing at your dumbass for being an abominably huge dork!

As you can tell I'm only just finding out that this blog is included in the Fixed Gear Junkies iPhone app:

The only mention I could find was on Trackosaurus Rex back in August. Which makes sense about my not knowing about it since I was out of town that entire month. Someone mentioned it to me earlier today and I went ahead and dropped the two beans on it to see what the deal was. Since I had just posted the previous post, there I was right at the top! I mean, it's basically an RSS feed for your phone. In any case it was worth the two bucks for a larf :P

Holy mother fucking christ the guys at Kimori have just SLAYED ME!

I just found out about this site via the NYC fixed board and these guys make some really amazing shit!

Road:

Cross:

Track:

How about pushing that gear? fuuuuck!

The accesories are what really killed me tho. Just for being very different and awesomely made!

Front brake adapter:

Fucking AWESOME rear brake adapter:

Ti cogs:

Then there's this lil number that allows you to convert road cassette hubs to fixed:

Best part is they claim you can toss up to three cogs on there! Granted it wouldn't make for the straightest chainline but still. So funny! Just wish their example photo was bigger:

I don't know about you guys but taking a rad road wheel and easily converting into a single sided double fix hub is pretty fuckin' cool! I'd like to get one of those for the Spinergy Rev-X rear wheel I've had sitting around forever..
